Skate WA

Skate WA is the State Sporting Organisation (SSO) for roller sports, recognised by Skate Australia as its WA state branch.

We operate as a volunteer run organisation, with an aim to promote, develop and grow artistic skating, inline hockey, rink hockey, roller derby and speed skating in Western Australia.

Skate Australia is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for Skate Sports, recognised by Sport Australia, the Australian Olympic Committee and the international federation, World Skate.

Only incorporated associations can become members of Skate WA.

Benefits to joining as a club

PEAK BODY AFFILIATION Your club will be a part of Skate Australia, who is the recognised peak body for skate sports in Australia by the Australian Sports Commission and the International Olympic Committee. The organisation acts on behalf of all clubs and members to facilitate the promotion, development and growth of skate sports in Australia while also ensuring the sports have credibility and legitimacy for current and future government funding and eligibility.
DATABASE Your club will be part of the national Skate Australia Revolutionise database and your club can have access to your club portal of your club members and other features.
​INSURANCE Your club will be covered by up to $20 million public liability Insurance and your committee members, coaches and officials are covered for up to $2 million professional indemnity insurance each. Please note to ensure coverage all committee members must be current members of your club.
GRANTS & FUNDING As a member club of a recognised NSO, your club is eligible to apply for local and state grants from outside agencies. Your club members will also have access to various local, state and federal grants and individual scholarships.
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS Your Club would have access to all Skate Australia development Programs & Resources eg Learn to Skate, Mighty Pucks, Quick Kids.
ACCREDITATION Any member in your club can become a nationally qualified coach and/or official.
STATE & NATIONAL REPRESENTATION The members in your club can be selected to represent your state and even Australia at official events including national and international championships.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS Your club can submit skaters and teams into the recognised State Championship Events.
FACILITY AND VENUE ISSUES Both Skate WA and Skate Australia can assist with facility and venue issues.
SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS Your club will be able to attend Skate Australia run Seminars and workshops aimed to assist your club development.
PROMOTIONAL TOOLS & RESOURCES Your club will have access to a range of high quality promotional resources including, DVD’s, posters, flyers etc. to help promote your club and sport.
MARKETING AND PROMOTION Your club will enjoy broader marketing and promotion of club events via the Skate Australia website and Facebook pages.
VOTING RIGHTS Your club would have the right to vote and have their say on important issues within your sport and the future direction of Skate Australia at a state and national level.
